As promised, we’ve continued delivering awesome, free content for Battleborn since its launch. Right on the heels of Battleborn’s latest update, which included three new Competitive Multiplayer maps and several community-requested features, we’re working hard to bring you even more amazing new content. Today marks the beginning of early access for the second of five free new heroes – the snake-like assassin, Pendles!

This week, we finally announced that our next update to Battleborn will begin rolling out today! Yes, you read that right. Starting today at 4pm CT (2pm PT)9, you’ll begin seeing changes that the community has long been asking for.
The second of five new free playable characters slinks his way into Battleborn soon. Pendles, the stealthy, snake-like assassin who duel wields kamas – made of… yep, that’s a skull – joins Battleborn as the 27th hero on August 4th on all platforms and can be unlocked for 47,500 credits earned in-game.

The latest Battleborn update is nearly here! Below you will find the patch notes for Thursday's update and you can find more information on new features, such as new maps and In-game Reporting, on the Battleborn blog. The update begins rolling out on Thursday, July 21st at 2pm PT/ 5pm ET.

With the big patch on July 21, a new Reporting tool will be available to players. Using in-game reporting, you will be able to flag players for certain behaviors we don’t want in our community.
Back when we outlined our vision for post-launch Battleborn content, we talked about all of the free content that would be coming your way, such as new modes, characters, and maps. We’re pleased to reveal to you now three new maps that are coming in the next update. Each Competitive Multiplayer mode will have a new map that also brings a bit of a new spin on the classic Incursion, Meltdown, and Capture modes. Let’s take a closer look at what’s coming in the next update!

What is “Prestige” in Battleborn Tap? Upon reaching Stage 30, the “Prestige” option becomes available under the home menu. Activating “Prestige” is a great way to earn XP, earn Artifacts, and of course, unlock new Battleborn in the game.

You know how in our weekly Battleplan Updates we spin out updates on the latest hotfixes? Well, this week we have such a massive update coming we wanted to give you huge head’s up: Matchmaking is getting a massive overhaul. In fact, after the matchmaking hot fix begins rolling out at 12pm PT on Thursday, June 30, it will look completely different the next time you start the game.

As you’ve read in the weekly Battleplan that releases every Thursday, it should come as no surprise that we’re continually working to improve Battleborn, with six hot fixes and two major content patches already deployed. We’re hard at work developing the Season Pass content. And, yes, we’re constantly listening to our fans, developing many community-requested features such as a Broadcaster Mode and in-game reporting. So, what’s next?

Attention, Badasses! We’ve got a patch incoming with a whole ton of updates. We’ve made lots of tweaks to Competitive Multiplayer modes and maps, fixed some issues with game performance, and fixed other bugs and issues along the way. We’re also expanding the Battleborn in-game Marketplace with cosmetic content!
It’s time for your heroes to start looking positively splendid! On June 16th, we will be rolling out an update that expands Battleborn’s in-game marketplace, and with it, we’ll be introducing some exciting new cosmetic content for your favorite heroes.

This week’s Battleborn Battleplan sees the addition of a long-requested feature, a couple hot fixes as well as a peek at what’s to come, and some amazing cosplays!
When you complete a story mission in Battleborn, you’ll see a score value and accompanying symbol in the post-match statistics screen. We call that symbol a “Star Rating.” The Star Rating you earn is based on – you guessed it— score! Essentially, the higher the score, the better the Star Rating.

It’s only been a couple weeks since Battleborn was unleashed on the world and already new heroes are joining the fight to save the last star! The first of five new free playable characters - Alani, the warrior-monk healer – releases on Tuesday, May 31st for all platforms and can be unlocked for 47,500 credits earned in-game. Can’t wait that long? Digital Deluxe and Season Pass holders will not only be able to instantly unlock Alani using a Hero Key (more on these keys below), they will also be able to play Alani early starting on Tuesday, May 24th!

Composed of largely democratic societies, the Peacekeepers are an amalgamation of civilizations devoted to the preservation and protection of those sentient beings incapable of defending themselves from conquest or incursion. Many members of the Rogue faction originated in the UPR, including Reyna. Moreover, in the UPR’s heyday, they spawned entire subfactions, such as the LLC, which later seceded from the UPR to stand apart as an autonomous governing body, in total control of its economic destiny.

In the LLC, humans, AI constructs, and cybernetic hybrids all indulge in lavish elegance. In fact, they are so absurdly rich that they value excessive demonstrations of that wealth, favoring overly-stylish design in every facet of daily living, from how they dress to their war machines.

Development on Battleborn is done! Yesterday it was announced that the game is getting ready to be printed to discs and shipped to retail stores around the world in time for its release on May 3. While the development of post-launch content has not yet begun, finishing the game has allowed Gearbox to begin thinking about the future, and today we’re ready to share 2K’s vision for supporting Battleborn post-launch.

Former Peacekeeper engineering chief, Ghalt sent out a call for survivors to help stop the interdimensional jackholes from taking stars – whole stars – and leaving everyone else to fight over the last table scraps of the universe. Now, as the leader of the hastily-formed Battleborn and as the fight to save the last star in the universe becomes more desperate, Ghalt welcomes more battle-hardened warriors join the fight to save the last star.

There’s no better place in the universe – even a shrinking universe – for someone to hide than The Detritus Ring. Before every remaining being alive flocked to the Solus system, the belt was good for avoiding unwanted attention save for a few ore miners. These days, the Detritus Ring is as densely populated with derelict spacecraft and debris as it is with asteroids. With more places to hide, it’s become the perfect home base for The Rogues.

Although the Rogues lack the structure, uniformity, and discipline of the Peacekeepers or Jennerit, they’re willing to band together when their free-wheeling way of life is threatened.

The Jennerit are a ruthless and driven faction, willing to bend the natural order of the universe to ensure their own survival. At its peak, the Jennerit Empire spanned the universe. The Jennerit race originated from the planet Tempest, but eventually moved its seat of power (the “throneworld”) to the planet Jennar as the Empire coalesced. After the Betrayal of Rendain, and the Darkening of the planet Jennar, Rendain moved the official seat of power back to Tempest and renamed the empire the Jennerit Imperium.

The Jennerit are ruthlessly pragmatic. They strive for perfection and they are not about to let something like mortality stand in their way. To that end, the Jennerit harness dark energies of the universe to twist the natural order of things as they see fit. In their bid to master life, members of the Jennerit must choose how they will use their power: Will they side with Rendain to bring the end of the universe? Or will they fight with the Battleborn to save the last star?

Billions of star systems, more or less putting up with each other’s crap in the name of profit, power – or just trying to keep the peace. Then, while none of us were paying attention, systems began winking out of existence. Some interdimensional jackholes couldn’t leave well enough alone and took suns. Whole suns. Now look at us – fighting over table scraps as the Varlesi suck up what’s left of the entire universe….

The Eldrid, an ancient faction charged with understanding and preserving the natural order of the physical universe trace their origins back to the Aztanti who once settled the planet Ekkunar. Long ago, Eldrid influence stretched across galaxies. Now, they – like everyone else in the Solus system – have fallen back and face extinction at the hands of the Varelsi. We recently cornered Battleborn’s Creative Director, Randy Varnell, and bombarded him with some questions about the Eldrid faction’s design.

The Eldrid are old. Really, really old. Their knowledge archives are the oldest in the universe. Compelled to understand, catalogue, and preserve the natural order of things, they would be happy to be left alone and quietly conduct their observation-based research. When the Varelsi or Jennerit start bending the rules of space-time though, the Eldrid are anything but peaceful.
